FEATURES

IN-PERSON LEARNING DELAYED

Following the guidelines set forth from the Arizona Department of Health Services, Liberty Elementary School District has not yet met the benchmark of Moderate to begin phasing back to In-Person Learning. As of September 17, 2020, two of three benchmarks have been met. When the Percent Positivity remains below 7% for for two consecutive weeks, schools will open for hybrid instruction for families who selected In-Person Learning. The Governing Board will meet on September 24th to consider approval of hybrid for K-8th grades. For now, all students will continue learning remotely. If the District meets the benchmarks on September 24th, we will begin welcoming students back to school in hydbid AM/PM sessions on Monday, October 12th, after fall break. Please continue to check our website for current information each Friday.

A Path to Return to In-Person Learning

At the Governing Board meeting on August 18th, the Board approved the following health benchmarks established by the Arizona Department of Health Services. All three benchmarks must be met to trigger a change in the delivery model from Substantial to Moderate or Moderate to Minimal. Currently, the COVID spread in the community is at a Substantial threshold according to the data sets the Governing Board approved for evaluating our district’s safety.

For the short term, all students in our traditional schools will continue with virtual delivery (Distance Learning). However, the data is improving, and we are hopeful that the district will be able to shift to a hybrid delivery model very soon for our In-Person Learning students.

Overall, the Liberty Elementary School District has met two out of three benchmarks for the Moderate threshold, with an overall rating of Substantial. When Benchmark 2 drops below 7% for two consecutive weeks, the district’s overall rating will change to Moderate.

Please continue to view our district website for current information. We will update the district status on meeting Health Benchmarks each Friday by 12:00 p.m. District administration will communicate to families whether or not to expect a change in the delivery model to begin the following Thursday.
