  Weekly Health Tips: 

- If you or your child has a temperature of 100○ or higher, stay home until you are fever free for at least 24 hours without medication.

 - If you are travelling over break don't forget to wash your hands or use hand sanitizers after touching public surfaces, get plenty of rest, and eat healthy.

1)  Q What is the most important way to stay healthy?
A
Washing your hands thoroughly!

- Wash your hands front and back and in-between your fingers using soap, for at least the duration of the happy birthday song 2x or the length of the ABC song. Use your elbow (if possible) or a paper towel to turn off the water.

- When leaving the bathroom, if the door requires you to use a handle to pull it open use the paper towel you dried your hands with and then throw it away.

- The District is working with the schools to provide hand sanitizers in each classroom to assist with keeping students healthy.
2)  Q How can I properly protect myself from catching the cold?
A
- When you do not have a tissue cough or sneeze into your elbow.

- Keep your hands away from eyes, mouth and your nose.

- We recommend you get your flu shot.

- Get plenty of rest. It is recommended children get 8-10 hours of sleep a night to prevent them from wearing down their immune system.

- Maintain a healthy diet. Children should maintain a healthy and balanced diet to help keep their immune system built up.
3)  Q When should I stay home?
A
Stay home when you are sick!!!

The District’s policy is:
- Any child with a temperature of 100° or higher needs to stay home.

- If a child has a temperature of 100° or higher they will be sent home.

- If a child has a fever, they must remain home until they are fever free for 24 hours without medication.

- If a child is vomiting or has diarrhea, they must remain home until they are episode free for 24 hours.

- Establish back-up child care plans in the event your child needs to stay home during the flu and cold season.
4)  Q Do you have this information in a letter form?
A
Yes. We have it in both English and Spanish. This letter was sent home with all students the first week of September.
